10 Questions with Student Blogger Abigail Reinneck

2020_blog_abigail_4What is your year and major?

I am a sophomore majoring in Marketing and plan to add a minor in Digital Media. My future plans are still up in the air, but I would love to take photos for businesses or run social media accounts and advertise for them.

Why did you choose GU?

First off, I feel like it’s important to mention that I have a twin sister! We had always planned on going to the same school and playing basketball. I chose GU because it felt like home the moment I stepped on campus, especially after meeting the basketball players and coaches. After lots of prayer, Emily (my twin sis) and I agreed that this is where God had called us to be. GU is a place where I have the opportunity to grow in my walk with Christ and to develop as an individual.

If you won a million dollars, what would you do with it?

If I won a million dollars, I would give most of it to orphanages and churches to support children and those who are in need. I would also share with my family because my family means a lot to me. I’m not going to lie, I would spend some (or maybe a lot) of it on coffee because I think I’m addicted.

What are you involved in on campus?

Here on campus, I get the opportunity to share the basketball court with the Women’s Basketball team. I am also an intern for the marketing department.

2020_blog_abigail_1What do you love about blogging and being an intern for the marketing department?

I love being an intern for the marketing department because of the people that I work with and because it has pushed me out of my comfort zone. I’ve been given so many new opportunities, like taking photos at campus events and writing blogs for the website. Blogging is fun because I am typically a quiet person, and it has allowed me to express myself and share some thoughts in a different way. I have always wanted to have my own YouTube channel, and this is pretty close, right?

What is your favorite memory from GU thus far?

This is not easy to answer, but my most favorite memory from GU thus far has to be going on coffee dates with my friends. It’s a very simple answer, but there is joy in the small moments. I love coffee, and coffee just tastes so much better when you are surrounded by great company!

What is the best piece of advice you've ever been given?

Another tough question! It is so hard to choose just one piece of advice, but if I had to choose, it would be, “Focus on what God has done for you instead of what people have done to you.” I heard this from my pastor, and I love it because life is all about perspective. We are so blessed to be given this life, and I don’t think we should spend our lives dwelling on what other people have done to us. Let’s live rejoicing!

If your life was a movie, what would the title be and who would play you?

If my life was a movie it would be titled Double Trouble. I am super close with my twin sister, and we basically do everything together. We would be played by the one and only Olsen twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley.

What is your dream job?

My dream job is to own my own coffee shop and work alongside my twin sister. I’ve always joked that after college we will go into business together… little does she know that I’m not joking! I plan on making the coffee, and she is going to sell some of her Christian artwork designs.

What is your favorite thing about GU?

My favorite thing about GU is the atmosphere on campus. I walk around campus and see smiling faces and waving hands, which makes me feel like I’m right at home. I’m surrounded by genuine people in the classroom, on the court, and on campus, who make GU a great place to be!
