Here is a recap of one the faculty development sessions last week. The session, “Successful Synchronous Sessions in Six Steps (or so)…using Adobe Connect,” focused on having a salient teaching presence for students who are learning online via web conferencing. The objectives were to (1) learn how to design and deliver engaging synchronous sessions and recordings, and (2) begin to use the Adobe Connect web conferencing tool.

The six Ds for a successful session are:

  1. Define the purpose of the session
  2. Decide on the technology that fits best
  3. Design/Develop the content for the session
  4. Deliver the content
  5. Discern the interactions
  6. Debrief with the class
