Communication is Key to Success

Did you know that Greenville College offers Biology courses online?  Students have the opportunity to complete Biology requirements through both traditional courses (face-to-face, on campus) and online.  In this blog post, we feature Jacquelyn Cato, Adjunct Instructor of Biology, and her views on how to succeed in online teaching.

What instructional model did you use to design courses?  How have you used podcasts, videos, discussion forums, and other new technologies?

Online biology classes are often taught in a forum format, where students post to discussion threads to communicate with each other and their instructor. A dialogue is eventually constructed through these posts and students often discover that they are able to convey ideas and thoughts much better than in the traditional classes they completed in the past.
