Today marks the beginning of an incredible journey for the panther volleyball family. Come along with me because the Journey to Georgia begins now.

To start off our day, we were recognized in chapel by Athletic Director, Kent Krober, for our exciting accomplishment – winning the SLIAC conference tournament and advancing to the NCAA Division III women’s volleyball tournament. After being acknowledged, we made our way over to the DC to watch the Selection Show that began at 10am. When we walked in, the final set from the conference tournament championship match was playing on the projector. Everyone got goose bumps as we watched the last few points unfold, leading up to our come-from-behind victory. As the last point was scored, we all cheered as though we were still in that moment.

About this time the Selection Show began, and we anxiously waited for our name to be called. Then we heard it – we were set up to play the team who is favored to win it all, Emory University. What an amazing opportunity! The host of this region is Berry College in Mount Berry, Georgia.

The remainder of the day was pretty hectic, trying to figure out all the details of the trip: when we were leaving, where we were staying, what time we played, this list goes on. Eventually, we found out that we leave tomorrow, Tuesday at 12:30pm!

At 4pm, we potentially had our last practice of the season in HJ Long gymnasium. It was definitely a bittersweet moment. All the emotions and memories of Saturday night’s game came flooding back, along with the sadness of it possibly being the final practice of the season; and for the seniors, perhaps their last practice in the gym where they have grown together these past few years.

After practice it was a mad rush back to our rooms to begin packing, because day 2 of the Journey to Georgia begins soon…
